Heather Achen

General Advisor/Lead Instructor

Heather is a USEF ‘r’ Judge and has been in the industry for over 30 years. She has a degree in Equine Science, has 17 years of independent business ownership, and has had many successful riders who have shown Hunter/Jumpers up and down the East Coast. Heather teaches all levels. With a solid background of dressage training, Heather considers the base of ground work for over fences a must. She has attended clinics/lessons with greats like Barbara Strawson, Micheal Plumb, Chris Kappler and Anne Kurizinkski, George Morris, Joe Fargis and Frank Chappot so she has a true understanding of the mechanics of riding needed in a competitive atmosphere. “Winning isn’t Everything” in her eyes. “One must go through the tracks of basic horsemanship and execution before moving on to the next level”. This theory has led to great unity between horse and rider and produces quality horses and Horseman. Originally from the Philadelphia area, Heather moved to Maryland 20 years ago and has evolved into more than just a trainer, but a horsewoman as well, whose goal is to bring everyone up beside her to become their very best.
